Overview
The deity of God Vishnu is worshipped at Shri Ram Mandir located at Chaphal in Satara, Maharashtra. The temple is located about 35kms away from the district of Satara in Maharashtra, on the banks of the river ‘Maand’. The temple was constructed by Ramdas Swami, the famous spiritual guru of a Maratha warrior named Shivaji Maharaj.
About The Temple
The temple is extraordinarily built with marbles making it a unique specimen. The temple enshrines a deity of God Surya which was retrieved by Swami Ramdas from the Angapur Pond. Swami Ramdas worshipped this deity as God Ram but originally this deity is of God Surya. The deity depicts the God standing with a lotus in his hands rather than a bow.
The temple consist a Dhyana Gumpha which is a mediation cave and is known to be a place where Samarth Ramdas Swami used to meet Shivaji Maharaj. A temple of God Das Maruti is built opposite this temple. The Vir Maruthi temple consist a deity of God Hanuman which is 8 feet tall and is decorated with ornaments.
Devotees visit this temple on daily basis and a bigger crowd of devotees can be noticed during auspicious festivals like Ram Navmi. The temple also hosts a fair which is attended by large number of people.
