Sri Amba nayahi sametha VeeraVaranathar Shiva temple

This is an ancient Pallava period temple at Kinar which is one among the Thevara reference temples. The lingam in this temple is one of the biggest in Tamilnadu. Sage Gowthamar, Agalya and Pancha Pandavars worshiped the deity of this temple. In between the primary deity and the Nandhi, It is said that Indhra is seated on his Iravatha elephant to get his curse cured. Behind the lingam, an enormous Somaskantha sculpture is present.

Meaning -We worship the fragrant Lord Shiva, who has 3 eyes and who cultivates all beings. May He free me from death, for immortality, as even a cucumber is separated from its bond with the vine.
