Dattatreya Temple

The temple on plan consists of a garbhagriha, a vestibule, a closed mandapa with four central pillars and porches on all the three sides. It is built on a high plinth consisting of mouldings, which follow all the recesses of the temple. The wall portion of the temple profusely decorated with sculptures of deities and that of the garbhagriha especially with niches having miniature towers above them. The entrance porch which is on the eastern side has kakshasanas. Inside the temple above the vestibule is an architrave of carved stone supported by two pillars. The temple has no Sikhara and only a pyramidal tower in roughly cut masonry adorned the main shrine. The image of Dattatreya is not the original image for the temple was probably placed in the garbhagriha on the subsequent date. Stylistically the temple built in western Chalukyan style belongs to 12 century AD.
