The Sri Vannamutti Perumal Temple is located in Myladuthurai and is dedicated to God Vishnu. Long long ago, a king was affected with a chronic skin disease. After the efforts for recovery failed, the king prayed to God Vishnu. God Vishnu appeared before him and asked him to travel along the banks of the Cauvery where God Margasagayeswarar (God Siva) would guide him to reach a holy place. It was there that the disease would be cured. The God also told him that the skin disease would be totally cured only if he takes bath in the Holy Viswaroopa Pushkarni for 48 days. The disease was cured and the place was called Kodihathi Vimochanapuram now known as Kozhikuthi. The king became a sage called Pippalar. Pippalar then advised him to worship God Sri Srinivasa Perumal and take dip in the Pushkarni for 48 days. The king was astonished by the beauty of God Sri Srinivasa Perumal. The king with the help of great sculptors, carved the God's form in a single Athi Tree and constructed a beautiful temple with 7 prakarams.
