The Prasanna Venkatesa Narasimha Perumal Temple is located in West Saidapet and is dedicated to God Rama. This temple is also known as "Ranganathapuram" (Rama was also known as Raghu). The main sanctum sanctorum is graced by God Prasanna Venkatesar in a standing position along with his consorts Sridevi and Bhoodevi. God Rama, the prime deity graces his devotees facing the south in the front mandap. He appears in his wedding attire along with Sita on the right and Lakshman on the left. The gopuram here has five stands. The vehicle used here is "Aananda Vimaanam". Legend goes that there used to be a sanctum for Kothanda Ramar in this place and the God appeared in the dreams of an ardent devotee asking him to build a temple. The temple was soon built and the God came to be known as Prasanna Venkatesar as he appeared in the dreams of a devotee. Thus, the temple came to be known as "Prasanna Venkatesa Narasimha Perumal" temple. The idol of Azhagiya Singar is also found in the prime sanctum. He is known by this name as He does not have a lion face and appears calm. On all Fridays, the statue of Sri Alarmelmangai Thaayar is taken for a procession inside the temple premises. Sri Prasanna Venkata Narasimha Perumal and the Alwars and Acharyas are taken in a procession inside the temple on the Thirunakshattras which are special and specific to them. Once a year, Sri Paarthasaarathy Perumal from Triplicane visits this temple in the month of February during the Thotta Utsavam festival. Mylapore Sri Aadhi Kesava Perumal visits this temple. During this visit a special Thirumanjam is performed for him.
