The Pattinathar Temple is located in Tiruvottriyur and is dedicated to God Pattinathar. Saint Pattinathar was a Saivite and spiritual leader who was born to Sivanesa Chetty and Gnanakalai. He was living in Thiruvidaimaruthur. He was also called as Thiruvenkadar by the people. He was married to Sivakami. Due to poverty, the couple sold all their belongings and property. Eventually, Pattinathar went to an extreme of pledging his wife's mangal sutra. Then the God appeared in the saint's dream and told that he would find a baby soon. So on giving that baby to its family, Pattinathar got gold bars in return.
