The Kala Bhairavar Temple is located in Thagattoor and is dedicated to God Kala Bhairavar. The temple is about 1, 000 years old and the presiding deity is God Bhairava. This is the only temple in Tamil Nadu where God Bhairavar is the Moolavar. The temple also houses the shrines of God Kasi Viswanathar, Mother Visalakshi, God Ganapathy, God Subramaniya with consorts Valli & Deivanai, Goddess Durga and God Chandikeswara. There is also a tank in front of the temple. There is a shrine on one side of the tank for Rowther with Karuppayi and Kathayee. He is considered the guardian deity of the temple the place, Thagattor is a Tamil translation derived from the Sanskrit word Yantra which is made from copper with diagrams engraved on them. Traditionally Yantras as Sri Chakra are installed in temples and there is one such in this temple also.

Meaning -We worship the fragrant Lord Shiva, who has 3 eyes and who cultivates all beings. May He free me from death, for immortality, as even a cucumber is separated from its bond with the vine.
