- Tell us about this temple
The Angalaparameswari Temple is located in Thurayur and is dedicated to Goddess Pechi. The goddess presides over in this temple with a child on her lap. On the other side, the Goddess appears in a furious form tearing the stomach of the queen to take out the child. The presiding deity Periya Nayaki is seen in a lying (Sayana) form. A king by the name Vallala Raja had no children. He prayed to Goddess Pechi and begged to be blessed with a child. The king's wife became pregnant. But even after 15 months the child was not born. The king prayed to the Goddess to help his wife. God Mother appeared as an angry old lady, took the queen, tore her stomach and took out the child with the umbilical chord. Then she stayed in the place in the name of Angalaparameswari representing the same Goddess in Melmalayanur.
