Ramalinga Swami Temple

Ramalingaswamy - Sivagami Ambhal Temple is a God Shiva Temple located at he North western side of big Western Ghats in the Panagudi village, Radhapuram Taluk, Tirunelveli District.It is an ancient temple constructed on 14th century. The temple has 15-20 acres of wasteland classified as temple wasteland. God Shiva is worshipped as God Ramalingaswamy. Inquisitively enough, it contains a little Vaishnavite sanctuary inside it. The sanctuary has been decorated by Gopura Mandapam before it and Pottamaraikulam on the east. There is a different shrines for Goddess Sivagami,God Nambi Singa perumal, God Natarajar, God Dekshanamurthi, God Kasivishvanathar, Goddess Meenakshi, God Murugan, God Kannivinayagar, Surian, Sandiran, Sanishwarar and Parikara Devars. It is distinct quality of this temple. The Molasthanas of God Ramalingarswamy and Goddess Sivagami have been cut outside the stone dividers. It is only major stone sanctuary in the Radhapuram Taluk, in Tirunelveli District. According to a legend the historical backdrop of the Panagudi Siva temple was that it was situated in the South Pandia nation governed over by Pandias, a long time. These Pandias are otherwise called Madurai Pandias, Thenkasi Pandias, Pancha Pandias and Iyvar Rajas. The Chera and Pandia rulers who led over the district for quite a while, and build the Ramalinga Temple in early years of the 14th century. Earlier it was known as Sotta Narayanam. Uddhama Pandia once went to the sanctuary to worship Ramalinga and organized Pujas and Festivals in the temple. Celebrations is an event in the temple like the other parts of life like Joy, Beauty, wealth, wonderfulness, concordance are all emphasized. He constructed the front madapam when he came to know that God Siva was calmly living in the store actually arranged Panagudi territory. It is said that a shepherd drew the attention of the king to the stone sanctuary and God Ramalingaswamy. It is clear that the symbol of the shepherd is found in southern side of God Siva sanctum. After the rule of Uddhama Pandia Raja, his successors did Thiruppani or the sacred works to this temple in the year 14th century. Afterwards also many Chera and Pandia kings did Thiruppani after the 14th century. So Saivism is spread in the zones. Saivism is development of the peace, love, accept and favoring.
