Overview
This temple was added to the collection of 274 Sivastalams in 1917. Around 2.7 kilometres to the South of Koradacheri en route to Koothanallur, the temple and the Thevara hymns that dedicated to this shrine in inscriptions were found during digging a mud mound and so is not a part of the original collection of the Thirumurais compiled by Nambiyandar Nambi. The pathigam here is referred to as Puthiya Pathigam. Vidaiyavan, of the Surya vamsam, originally built this temple. Shiva was worshipped by Aadhiseshan, Agasthyar and Sage Athri. This is hence considered to be the 128th of the Tevara Stalams in the Chola country located to the south of the river kaveri.

Ganapathi, Durga and different divinities in the Devakoshtam are foremost. The figure demonstrating Ambal holding Sambandar on her lap and offering the Holy Milk is situated at the passageway of Abhirami holy place. Sambandar loving The God and The Goddess right on top of the fundamental passageway is charming.

Legend and Stories
Legend goes that this temple was built originally by a ruler by name Vidaiyavan of the Solar race and that Shiva here was worshipped by Aadiseshan, Agasthyar and Atri. Appar refers to this shrine as Vidaivaikkudi in his Adaivutiruttandakam.
