Overview : This is one of the 4 Shivastalams in the Himalayas commended by the tamil songs of the Saivite Nayanmar Tamil Saints of the first century CE - the other three being Gowrikund, Kedarnath and Mount Kailash. A towering crest (6000 Meters tall) came to by a long trek from Kathmandu is loved as a sign of Shiva and a green rock is venerated as an appearance of Ambal. Indra is accepted to have loved Shiva here. Arjuna, the Pandava Prince is accepted to have venerated Shiva here, and acquired the Pasupata Astram. This hallowed place has not been gone to by any of the Nayanmars, despite the fact that its gestures of recognition have been sung by Sambandar from Kalahasti in today's Andhra Pradesh. Indraneela Parvatam is the first of the Tevara Stalams hailed by the Tamil songs of the Nayanmars, situated outside of Tamilnadu/Kerala/Karnataka i.e. in Vada Naadu (the northern terrains).
