Overview
Asurchula Temple is arranged on the highest point of "Ghunsera Caves". The stone pictures of divine beings and goddesses found in this sanctuary have a place with the period relating to the Gupta Empire. The sanctuary was constructed by Khol leaders of Kartikeyapura. Kartikeyapura is the first name of Joshimath. Katyuri rulers had named it after their directing divinity, Lord Kartikeya.
