Overview
Mamandur is a village which is situated on the Kanchipuram- Vandavasi route. The village is located in close proximity to the river Palar. Mamandur boasts of a popular temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu who graces the devotees here as Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal. This village was once considered bustling and lively with activities way back in the 7th century A.D. Mamandur is popularly called the Doosi-Mamandur due to its nearness to a village called Doosi. This name also distinguishes the village from yet another place called Mamandur. The village of Doosi too houses another temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. One can find a number of temples of Lord Vishnu on this Kanchipuram to Vandavasi route. Mamandur is considered a revered place which finds mention in ancient religious texts and literatures written by great scholars.
About The Temple
Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal temple at Mamandur is relatively small in size. Both thebtemple as well as the main sanctum sanctorum (Moolavar sanadhi) faces the direction east. The stone idol of Lord Vishnu and his consort Goddess Lakshmi is seen seated on his left lap. The deity appears having four-arms, with the upper hands holding the sacred conch (sankhu) and discus (chakra), while the lower right hand shows the abhaya hasta and lower left hand around goddess Lakshmi. The Utsava moorthi, is seen standing along with Sri Devi and Bhu Devi thayars on either side. The temple has just a single precint (parkara).
The sanctum of Sri Sundaravalli Thayar is seen in front of the main sanctum dedicated to Lord Lakshmi Narayana temple. The Thayar Sanadhi has a delicate stone idol of Goddess Sundaravalli Thayar. The Utsava moorthis (processional images) of Andal, Navanita Krishna and Chakrattazhwar (Sri Sudarsana) are also found in the temple. In the passage leading to the sanctum are the stone idols of the Azhwars and the Acharyas. Two images of Anjaneya which had been worshipped at the rear of the temple have now been consecrated in a small shrine to the left of the main sanctum in the prakara.
Festivals
The temple follows rules pertaining to the Vaikhanasa Agama. The Manavala Mamuni Sathumurai (Utsavam) is celebrated in the month of October-November during the Moola nakshatram. Maanavala Maamuni is one of the most revered Srivaishnava archaryas. In the month of Karthigai, the Tirumangai Azhwar sathumarai is held on the day of Karthigai nakshatram. The sathumurai for Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal is performed on the moolah star which is celebrated as the deity’s birth anniversary.

Airport
The Tirupati International Airport is the closest which lies at a distance of 14 kms. Spice Jet, Jet Airways, Air India offer flights to there.
Railways
Tirupati is the nearest major railway junction which falls on the governance of South Central Railway. Direct trains from nearby metro cities such as Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad are available to Tirupati. Trains can also be boarded from nearby town of Renigunta which is about 10km from Tirupati. Frequent bus services are also available between Tirupati, Renigunta and Gudur.
Road
Very frequent bus services are available from Tirupati Bus terminal. One can hire taxis too to reach this place which is in close proximity to Tirupathi.
