Ankali Mutt is also called the Pradeshappana Guhe, which is located at a distance of about 3 kms from the main city. This is a famous ancient monastery, nearby which lies the Panchalingeshwara Cave Temple under massive boulders. The entrance of this cave comprises inscriptions belonging to 1286 AD, during the reign of the Hoysala King Narasimha III. The five Shiva Lingas located inside this cave temple have been declared sacred by the Pandavas, who visited the attraction.
