- Tell us about this temple
A form of Aadhi Moola Lakshmi, Mother Sundara Maha Lakshmi is the Mother of all Wealth and Treasures. The goddess is the root form of all 64 avatars of Lakshmi, each of which governs a specific form of wealth, well being and prosperity. True prosperity is not confined to a massive bank balance, but rather, comes from the blessings of all the 64 aishwaryas. The Kubera Sampath Shakti Temple preserves and edifies the goddess and her many powers: billions of Kubera Shaktis, Aishwarya Shaktis, Sukra Shaktis, treasure Shaktis and prosperity Shaktis. Sporting six toes on her right leg, Mother Sundara Maha Lakshmi represents herself as Sukra’s Divine Controller – six being the number that Sukra stands for. In this capacity, she controls Shukra’s power to bestow prosperity. The Lord’s name in this temple is Kamala Varadharaja Perumal. Legend has it that Shukra offers worship at this shrine unfailingly, each Friday. The form he might assume as he makes his way to the temple remains beyond the realm of human comprehension – but he is certainly one of the many visitors that make their way to the shrine every Friday. The shrine is also the perfect destination to propitiate the navagrahas – for each of the nine lords constituting the navagrahas and their consorts worshipped Mother Sundara Maha Lakshmi at this shrine in nine different forms of Lakshmi. Worshipping Mother Sundara Maha Lakshmi at the temple on the days of Varalakshmi Vrata and on Fridays – especially the Fridays in the Tamil months of Aadi (July 15 August 15) and Thai (January 15 February 15) and especially during Sukra Hora is a perfect tribute to the goddess.
