Overview
The Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple Nandalike is located near Nandalike in Karnataka. The temple is 16 km away from the Mangalore-Padubidri-Karkala Highway from East and 15 km away from Karkala. The temple is surrounded by greenery and nature. The Coastal Region of Karnataka is famous for its pilgrim shrines. Because of the historical temple devotees are attracted towards this Coastal Region.
About The Temple
The Nandlike Shri Mahalingeshwara Temple was established by the great Dvaita Saint Sri Vadiraja Swamy of the Sode Matha. It was built in typical Tulu Nadu style and has “Gudis” for Mahalingeshwara, Mahaganapati and the Daivas. The temple has been renovated and is very well maintained.
About The deity
The main deity is Mahalingeshwara (Lord Shiva) worshipped here along with Sathya Devatha (Goddess of Truth) called Siri, Uri-Brahma, Veerabhadra, Nandigona, Kumara, Abbaga-Daaraga, Khadgeshwari, Rakteshwari, Annappa, Kshetrapala, Bhutaraja and Gajamalla. This place is also called Alade and Moolastana to lakhs of devotees.
Legend and Stories
Nandalike witnessed a major religious event on Friday as the famous Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple here got a new flag mast. In the presence of hundreds of devotees Padigaru Shrinivas Tantri performed Brahmakalashabhisheka. In the afternoon Mahapoojotsava, sacrifice and public maha Annasantharpane were conducted. Nandalike Chavadi Aramane Suhas Hegde, Temple Trustee N. Sunder Ram Hegde and hundreds of devotees were turned up to witness the sacred ceremony.
Festivals
The Annual Festival starts from the full moon day of the Tulu month Mayi (between February 15 and March 15) and celebration day called Ayanostava will be celebrated on subsequent full moon day i.e. between March 15 and April 15). Lakhs of people gather for this festival.
