About The Deity
The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Parvathi. The name “Ardhanarishwaer” means half man and half woman. The right half of the stone image in the temple represents Lord Shiva and the left half his consort Parvathi. Shiva has his typical hair and wearing a garland of skulls, an entwined snake, a musical instrument in one hand and a Damru (a type of drum) in the other. The divine consort Parvathi is shown wearing a diadem, earrings and a nose-ring.
