Legend and Stories
The legend behind this divya desam is that Kaar, dark mists. The mists give the downpour to the world. Since, Karunakara Perumal looks like as Kaar the blackclouds, Lord doesnt expect anything from his bhaktas yet just immaculate bhakthi or dedication from them. Sri Karunakara Perumal Temple is associated with the sage named Kaaraha. It is said that the sage Kaaraha performed penance towards Lord Vishnu to obtain knowledge and he blessed with the knowledge by Lord Vishnu. The word ‘Kaar’ represents Black clouds, which gives rain to enrich the world. As a result, the Lord does not expect anything but only the true devotion towards Him.
