Overview
The Velankudi Kovil is located on the Karaikudi - Thiruchirapalli road. It is about 10 kilometres from Karaikudi. The presiding deity here is Lord Sandeeswarar and his consor Kamakshi Ammai.

The Velangudi Kovil is dedicated to Arulmigu Kandeeswarar and his consort Arulmigu Kamatchiyammai. It is about 9 kms from Karaikudi. Its members have no Piruvus (Sub-classification). The population here is very low and this is believed to be the result of an ancient curse.

The presiding deity is Lord Shiva. He is called Arulmigu Kandeeswarar. His consort is known as Arulmigu Kamatchiyammai.
