Overview
Kottappuram is a village in the Thrissur district of Kerala, India. This place houses an ancient Shiva temple which is listed among the 108 Shiva temples of Kerala.
About the Temple
The Kottappuram Shiva Temple is associated with the famous Vadakkumnathar temple of Thrissur since that’s where a devotee named Antharjanam is said to have got a Swayamboo linga on praising the Lord there. The deity is installed on a low platform. The Balikkallu (sacrificial stone) found here is also low. This temple located within the Kotturpuram fort dates back to the first century AD. It also houses Lord Ganapathy and Nandi Dev.
