The Adhisaya Sastha Temple is located in Kanyakumari and is dedicated to God Adhisaya Sastha. God Sastha is present in the temple in a unique form, with his right leg bent and the left toe pressed on the ground. He holds a club in his right hand and is wearing a necklace and the sacred thread. His curly hair is beautifully dressed. God Sastha is traditionally seen with his feet pressed on the floor in a yogic style. In this temple he is on a platform (peetam). There is the elephant and horse vahans in front of the shrine. Centuries ago, the devotees of the place worshipped Sastha as their family deity. They made a small idol of Sastha, built a small temple and installed the idol. Later, a person with how was visually impaired was lying in the temple and worshipping the God visualizing the God in his mind. He felt as if somebody was sitting by him applying Kajal on his eyes. He soon regained his vision. Based on this incident the God here is also known as Anjanam (kajal) Thadavia (applying) Kandan. Kandan and Manikandan are other names for Sastha.

Meaning -I bend down to Lord Shastha, who defends Dharma and Sastra and who brings happiness to Parvathi's heart, the fearless warrior that protects all, who has great glory and who warrants great admiration and devoted worship.
