Overview
The Angrabadi Temple, located in Khunti village, is a Hindu temple complex originally named as Angrabari temple and later renamed as Amreshwar Dham by the revered Hindu Seer Shankaracharya Swami Swarupananda Saraswathi. There are about 72 Hindu temples in Jharkhand devoted to Lord Siva.
The temple is believed to have a Swayambhu Shiva Linga that is regularly worshipped. The temple is also called as Amareshwar because the deity according to legend was worshipped by a Mango tree.
About The Temple
Angrabadi temple complex, located in the surroundings of peaceful beauty and in a calm and serene atmosphere, is a magnificent temple complex near Khunti. This place is found in the low hilly landscape at an average altitude of 1800 ft. (615 metres) these 183.89 sq. kms. The temple was renamed as Amreshwar Dham by the Sage Shankaracharya Swami Swarupananda Saraswathi. The shrines present in this complex are unique and encompass the Hindu Gods such as Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh, Ram-Sita and Hanuman. Ram-Sita is a unique one worth visiting. This is a wonderful place to visit for spiritual development and also a treat to watch.
The temple complex is situated on 8 acres of land. A unique minar-shaped temple in the complex lures visitors. Devotees come to this place to offer their prayers as well as for spiritual enhancement.
About the deity
The god worshipped in the temple is known in the name of Baba Amreshwar because the Shivling venerated in the temple is located near a Mango tree.
The main Shivling in the temple, does not have a roof over it. This is for the reason that on every occasion when an attempt was made to build a temple around the Holy Shivling; Lord Shiva came in the dream of the person working on it and asked to go ahead in building a roof. Currently the main Shivling is under a Banyan Tree. The temple was renamed as Amreshwar Dham by Sage Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati
Legend and Stories
The temple is kept in the open air and no roof is given. It is said that whenever it has been tried to construct a concrete roof for the temple, Lord Shiva appeared in the dream and ask the enthusiasts to stop the construction. Thus, the temple is so kept over the centuries. Presently, the temple is situated under a banyan tree.
Dress Code
Wearing conservative clothes is suggested, though, no such regulations are made by the Angrabadi Temple authorities.

This is one superb place to make a spiritual connection with the almighty and a place to do some soul-searching. Many tourists visit the place to gain peace and tranquility in the serene atmosphere.

This places nestles in the low hilly terrain which is at an average altitude of 1800 ft. these 183.89 sq. Kms. The National Park here has an abundance of wild animals,i.e. Wild Boar, Sambar, Nilgai, Chital, Sloth Bear, tiger and Panthar. The 1970 census of the government has established the presence of 14 tigers, 25 Panthers and 400 Sambars.
Sun Temple
It is about 39 Km. From Ranchi on Tata Road near Bundu stands this temple on which desolates bush green are found. The elegant Sun temple is fashioned in the form of huge chariot with richly decorated 18 wheels and seven life like horses ready to take of. Built by Sanskrit Vihar headed by Shri Ram Maroo, the managing director of Ranchi Express, the sun temple deserves the title “a Poem in stone”.
Baidyanath Dham (Deoghar)
Baidyanath Dham is situated in the Santhal Parganas of Jharkhand, it is a very important piligrim centre. The temple is famous for the Hindus for the temple of Shiva-Baidyanath and the place is a popular holiday centre.
