The Arulmigu Pataladri Narasimha Perumal Temple is located in the Singaperumal koil and is dedicated to God Narasimha. This temple has been much talked about in the Brahmanda purana. According to the scripture, this region was once a dense forest. A sage called Jabali was in intense meditation praying to God Narasimha. The God appeared before him in the Ugra posture with three eyes. The practice of pradakshanams made by the devotees around this small hill is quite famous. Structurally, the temple has been designed to be a Pallava cave temple. The God presides in a sitting posture with a conch in one hand, disc in one hand, one hand in Abaya and the fourth hand on his thigh. Ten songs about God Narasimha were sung by Kaliyan - Thirumangai Alwar in Periya Thirumozhi (Paasurams 1008 - 1017). These ten songs are recited in the Prabanda Seva of the temple daily. Sincere devotees of God Narasimha in this temple are bestowed with children, marriages, employment and family welfare. The Giri Prathakshanaman Thrinethra Dharsanam is famous in this temple. The temple houses a fairly large idol (about 8ft) of Pataladri Narasimha carved out of a single red coloured boulder. God Narasimha is the incarnation of God Vishnu. He has lion head and human body. The name Singaperumal translates to Lion-god. On the Prakara are idols of Venkateshwara and Lakshmi-Narasimha Swami. Since the idol is part of a large boulder and the hillock, one needs to perform girivalam, meaning go around the hillock, if one wishes to circumbulate the idol. Apart from this there is also a wish-fulfilling tree, the Mandapa and the Bali Peetha. The prasadam is sold in a stall located inside the temple premises and also uniquely you get the Dosas with chilli powder for a reasonable price, which tastes great. But it is available only during weekends.
