Overview
The Arunachaleswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the Tondiarpet, Chennai. This temple is a lesser known temple.
About the temple
The Arunachaleeswar temple does not have a tower and it faces east. It was constructed in 1779 AD. Narada Ganesha and Lord Subrahmanya are present on either side of the entrance inside the temple premises. Unlike all temples the main entrance doesn’t fall in line with the flag post but faces south. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva by the name Arunachaleeswarar. A nandi statue is in front of the idol. Near it is the goddess Abidakujambal shrine facing east, she poses in a standing with four hands.
