The Ashapura Mata Temple is located in the town of Nadol, 100 km from the Pali district, Rajasthan. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Ashapura Mata, who is the principle deity of Kutch. She is also the Kuldevi of the Jadeja Rajputs, the erstwhile ruling dynasty of cutch state.
Legends have it that the older temple located 80 kms from Bhuj, was built around 1300 AD by the ministers of the ruler of Kutch, Lakho Fulani. Later when the Jadeja rulers won battles, after seeking the Goddess blessing made her as their Kuldevi.
Another interesting legend about Ashapura Mata is that in Gumli, on Barda hills, a demon was troubling the locals who prayed to Goddess Ashapura to kill the demon. Goddess Ashapura killed the demon and the locals built a temple for the Goddess.
