The existing temple was built by the Gajapati rulers. The idol of Brahma is a unique four-handed black chlorite one depicted as holding a Veda and water vessel in his upper two hands and a rosary with the lower two hands displaying the abhaya mudra. This temple of Brahma is located on the eastern embankment of the Bindusagar tank, on the left side of the road leading from Lingaraj Temple. The main temple is of late Kalingan style dating back to 15th century. A visit to Lingaraj Temple is incomplete without visiting this temple and the Ananta Vasudeva temple.

Meaning -Om, let me meditate on the four-faced God, who travels on the swan. Give me greater intelligence and brighten my mind Lord Brahma.
