The Thevur Devapureeshwarar Shiva Temple of Thevur is one of the popular temples of Tamil Nadu that is known as the most religious place for Hindus. It is the 85th Shiva temple in the southern bank of river Cauvery. The Shiva temple opens for prayer on two times a day when thousands of pilgrims gather to pray for kindness of Lord Shiva. About the Temple


The spot Deyvoore speaks the truth 5 kms from Keez Velore, which speaks the truth 13 kms from Thiruvarore and around 12 kms from Nagapattinam. Teertham is Deva Teertham which is before the temple. Varuna, gowthama, Mrutha and Sanjeevini are other pushkarani for the temple. The sthala Vruksham is growing on stone which is something peculiar. There is no mud portion near the root. They do not water the plant. we circumvent the prakaram we see Vinyakar, Murugan, Gowthama Lingam, Aglaya Lingam, Indra Lingam, 63 Nayanmar, Maha Lakshmi, Durgai, Nava graham, Bairvar, Chandran, and Sooryan. About The Deity


Divinity is Swayambu Lingam known as Arulmigu Devapureeswarar/Deva Guru Nadhar and his consort known as Madhura Bashini/Theyn mozhiaal in a different sanctum. Vinayakar is Valampuri Vinayakar and he is known a Brahma Varadhar.


Legend and Stories
