Overview
Sri Harihareswar temple, at southern end of Raigad district is a devotion center for many devotees. Devotees from all over India and abroad too come to this temple situated at the coast of Arabian-sea. One side is Bankot creek and other side Arabian Sea and a beautiful hillock. It is a great fun to watch sea from the hillock. Harihareswar is situated between Bankot and Shrivardhan creek. The Bankot creek is confluence of Savithri River and sea. There is a beautiful cypress grove and Bankot area is beyond it. You must visit Harihareswar to enjoy its natural beauty. One can also visit Bagmandala, Agar or Kolmandla villages near Harihareswar, which are all at the Bankot creek.
About The Temple
Harihareswar Temple complex has two adjacent temples. The smaller Kaalbhairav temple is expected to be visited first, before entering the main Harihareswar temple housing an ancient Shiva Lingam. A pradakshina (corridor) route goes around the temple, along the sea shore. It is advisable not to go on this route during high tide.
