- Tell us about this temple
One of the oldest temples dedicated to Mahadev, it is believed that Bhima, the third Pandava, installed the Shivling at this temple. Since a lake on all sides surrounds the temple, it came to be known as Jalesvar Mandir. The ling is submerged in water for the most part of the year. The temple has 18’X24’ sabhamandap and a 2.13 m long corridor. Outside the shrine lies an idol of Ganapati, flanked by Lord Krishna on the left side and Radha on the right side. In 1940, a mandap was built. The ling is about 10’ below the sabhamandap. In the shrine, a small Nandi faces the ling.
