- Tell us about this temple
There is a hillock nearby the Ashoka Siddapura at Brahmagiri with close mythological relationships with the Ramayana Epic. Legend has it that Rama did the last rites for Jatayu the eagle who tried in vain to rescue Sita from Ravana and later on erected a Shivalinga at that spot. Hence, the place is named Jattinga Rameshwara Linga and a shrine devoted to Rameshwara was built in 926 AD.
