The Avudaiya Nayaki Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in Kadambur in Chengalpattu. This village name is Kadambar Koil. It is situated on the Uthiramerur Kanchipuram main road. The route to the temple from the main road is beautiful, and filled with lush greenery on both sides with the Cheyyar River, though absolutely dry, forming the backdrop. The Cheyyar River normally flows east to west, but flows north to south at this place. The Ganges also normally flows from east to west but is considered holy only at Kasi where it flows from the north to south. The temple is small, but very beautiful and well maintained. It does not have major sculpture work, but has a lot of historical value. The main deity, Shiva, is called Kadambanathar in this temple and is a Suyambu lingam. There were inscriptions on the walls of the sanctum sanctorum. The Nandhi is majestic and beautiful. The Pradhosham is a good time to visit the temple. There is a beautiful mandapam inside the temple. The temple is holier than Kasi. It has a place to do all the rituals that are normally done at Kasi and is a place to get salvation. It is small, beautiful and cleanly maintained without any great sculpture.
