Overview
The Ardhanareeshwar temple is a famous Hindu shrine located in Tiruchengode. Tiruchengode is an ancient town located near the city of Salem in Tamil Nadu, India. The deity Ardhanareeshwarar is in the form of half - man and half-woman. The Kailasanadhar temple is the next prominent temple, located at the heart of Thiruchengode. While the former is located on top of a hill, the later is situated at its bottom.
About the Temple
The Thiruchengode Kailasanathar temple is a large temple with gigantic tower and magnificent walls. The chief deity of this temple is Lord Kailasanathar who graces in the form of a Shiv Linga. A separate shrine is dedicated for Goddess Sugunda Kundalambigal. One other shrine which stands significant in this temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga. The temple also houses idols of deities like Ganesh, Muruga like his consorts Valli and Devasena. Nandi Dev is seen in the front of main shrine. The prominent attraction of this temple is the unique Nandi statue which is made of white stone.
