Overview
The Kamleshwar Maharood temple is situated at the Corgao locality of Pernem taluk ,which is the northern most taluk of Goa . The temple is said to have been built by Queen Kamala Devi who ruled Goa from Revatidvip (today's Redi).
The temple is quite old and was built about 200 years ago. The presiding deity of this temple is Lord Shiva. It is the only temple in Goa that has a pair of stone sculptures of Nandi dev, the carrier of Shiva. These stone sculptures of Nandi Dev are placed directly opposite the sanctum of Lord Shiva.
A beautiful image of Lord Vishnu and a huge life-sized image of a deity named Kuvaleshwar can be seen from near the temple. The shrine of Sri Bhumika Devi is also located near the Kamaleshwar Temple.
