One can trace the history of Shyam Baba with reference to Mahabharata. The battle of Mahabharata was unavoidable, so the Barbaric wanted to witness the Kurukshetra war. He promised his mom that if he wanted to join the war, he would join the side that would be losing. He rode on the blue horse while he was stopped by Krishna. The Lord was in disguise of a Brahmin.
