Overview
Ludhiana is one of the important cities of Punjab. The city boasts of a beautiful Sri Krishna temple situated in the Model Town Extension. The temple is among the biggest temples of Ludhiana which is built on an area of 500 Sq yard. The temple stands well furnished and has more than 520 statues. A 37 foot high statue of Lord Hanuman serves an as its important attraction. The temple also sponsors a charitable hospital for the poor, by providing free medicines & operational facilities.
Festivals
The festivals like Janamashtami, Dushera, & Shivratri are celebrated in this temple with utmost devotion and fervour. Large number of devotees visits this temple on such occasions to worship the deity by reciting bhajans and shlokas.
Janamashtmi which is the birth day of Lord Sri Krishna is celebrated every year in an open ground outside the temple premises. This is because of the huge crow that gathers to celebrate the auspicious occasion. The grounds are excellently decorated with tents, flowers and lights. The charnamat is being distributed to the people near the main gate. People offer Chhapan Bhoga to their beloved Lord and later distribute them to the other devotees. Various cultural programmes like dance, plays, etc are also organised as part of the celebrations. The festival concludes with offering prasadam to the bhakths.
