Krishna Temple

It is a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, operated by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). The temple is situated in Imphal at Brahmpur Guru Aribam Leikai, on the banks of the Imphal River. It is believed that the temple was patronized by King Charairongba and constructed in the year 1704 A.D. The beautifully built temple echoes throughout with the powerful chanting of Hare Rama Hare Krishna. The peaceful atmosphere and surroundings makes one forget all the pains & sorrows of life. The brick temple is given a thick cement coating from outside that looks like marble from a distant. The plinth is raised in three layers of bricks. A hum panel of airborne staircases facing the south facade perfectly matches the muscular construction of the temple base. The sanctum cube and the porch walls discretely support the dome like a crescent crown. The short porch dome is artistically decorated with floral motifs. Above it the crown rests on a short neck which further carries two Kalsas. The internal sanctum is unified with the porch hall which is further separated into two chambers partitioned by an iron breakdown that leads to a staircase outside.
