Overview
Karuppariyalur Kutram Poruttha Naathar temple is a Hindu temple located at Thalaignaayiru in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu, India. The historical name of is Karuppariyalur or Karmanaasapuram. The presiding deity is Shiva. This temple is located at about 1o kilometres from another paadal petra sivasthalam Vaitheeswaran Kovil.This is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Tevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanars Tirugnanasambandar and Sundarar.
About the Temple
As in Sirkazhi, in this temple this temple additionally there are 3 places of worship for God Shiva viz., Kutram Porutta Natheswarar, Uma Maheswarar and Sattanathar. Thus this sthalam is additionally a Madakkovil and is alluded to as "Melaikkazhi". The altar for Kutram Porutta Natheswarar is arranged in the ground level and the second and third temples are arranged at a raised site as found in Sirkazhi. This Shivathalam is otherwise called Adhityapuram in light of the fact that Sun God Sooriyan is said to have venerated God Shiva here. This temple has 4 prakarams and the stucco pictures on the vimanams decorating the sanctum are of extraordinary excellence. The Rajagopuram here is not in allignment with the sanctum here.

The presiding deity is called as Kutram Poruttha Naathar (Aparaathakshameswarar). He is also called as Uma Maheswarar, Sattanathar. His consort is Kolvalai Naayaki and also known as Vichitra Balambikai.
Legend/Story
According to the legend, Indiran, the king of Devas, is said to have attacked Shiva with his Vajrayutham and Shiva is said to have forgiven him for his hasty act of aggression. Hence God Shiva is known here as Aparadha Kshameswarar in sanskrit and is referred as Kutramporutha Nathar in Tamil.
Festivals
On the Thirukkaarthigai and Thiruvaathirai days, the Lord goes on procession. All festivals related to Lord Siva are celebrated in a grand manner.
