- Tell us about this temple
The present name of the temple is Ladu Baba which was built during the 13th century A.D. But earlier the temple was known as the Kainchhi Temple. Ladu Baba temple is located in the older part of Bhubaneswar. The temple is in close proximity to the famed Chitrakarini temple. The temple faces east. But the surprising aspect of this temple is its empty sanctum. However, the sculptural embellishments on its outer walls suggest that the temple was originally dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to the local tradition, the deity was rescued and shifted from Ravana's Lanka to Ekamra Kshetra during the conflagration of Svarna Lanka on the eve of Rama-Ravana war.
