- Tell us about this temple
Ragho-pant Josi, a native of Wategaon and a minister to one of the subordinate chiefs of the Nimbalkar family during Nana Fadnavis' (1764-1800) time, built the original structure of this temple. The most striking feature of this temple is the use of stone for every part of its constructions, even the internal domes and pinnacles. The gabhara measures about 10 sq ft. A stand consisting of 5 highly polished upright slabs, each broader than the other and placed one behind the other, has the stone idols of Lakshmi and Narayan. A carved pendant shaped like a ram's head decorate the corners of these stone slabs. A pyramid-like pinnacle about 40 ft high crowns the gabhara and is decorated with figures of Gods and Goddesses. Smaller pinnacles crown the 4 corners of the gabhara and a pinnacle at the center crowns the inner mandap.
