Overview
The Lakshminarayanar Temple is located in Kariseri and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
About the deity
Lord Lakshminarayana appears in a sitting form with one leg folded holding Mother Lakshmi on the lap. There are no shrines for other deities. A very small temple. But its reputation is great as the idol is of Navapashana material which is very rare to see.

There are only a few Vishnu temples in Tamilnadu with the Lord appearing in a sitting form and this is a temple of this kind.
Legends and Stories
Some Siddhas (enlightened souls) living in the Chaturagiri hills near Vatrairuppu made a Vishnu statue with rare herbas mex called Navapashana and were worshipping Him. The statue was washed away in floods once and reached the Kariseri village. The public, with great joy of finding a rare Vishnu idol, built a temple and began to perform pujas and worship.
Festival
Vaikunda Ekadasi in the month of Margazhi (December-January) is important festival celebrated in the temple.
