Overview
The Lakshminarayanar Temple is located in Pudur and is dedicated to God Krishna. This temple was constructed by the Kartar dynasty Kings of Mysore in the 16th century. The statue of Kalinganardhana (God Krishna dancing on the head of the five hooded serpent Kalinga) though old still appears new. It is said that people praying here would be devoid of enemies.
About the deity
Lord Vishnu is seated on lotus designed seat (Peetam) holding Sri Mahalakshmi on the left lap and graces as Sri Lakshminarayana.

There are only a few Vishnu temples in Tamilnadu with the Lord appearing in a sitting form and this is a temple of this kind.
Legends and Stories
Mahalakshmi was determined to get Vishnu as Her Lord and achieved the aim when the milk ocean was churned. Lord Vishnu responding Her love for Him took Her on His left lap and sat on a lotus flower.
The temple was built in the 16th century by the Kartar dynasty kings of Mysore.
The Kalinganardhana idol (Lord Kirshan dancing on the head of the five headed snake Kalinga is very beautifully made by the sculptors. Despite the age, the idol still looks very new. It is said that those facing problems from the enemies may worship Kalinganardhana Krishna to win over them.
Festival
Vaikunda Ekadasi in the month of Margazhi (December-January) is important festival celebrated in the temple.
