Overview
The Birla Temple of Shri Lakshmi Narayan is located in Jaipur , Rajasthan , India. The temple is situated in Tilak Nagar. The place has easy connectivity by air, rail and road. International airport of Jaipur is just 10 kms away from the place. Ramganj Mandi railway station is 5 kms away and is well connected to Jaipur city. The national highway from Delhi to Jaipur is very comfortable to reach the temple place. The tourists are advised to take bus from Bikaner house at India Gate in Delhi. The state transport has arranged for Volvo AC and non AC, Deluxe and Semi Deluxe buses every half an hour.
About the temple
This temple is built in 1988 and is one among the many Birla Temples across the country. The temple is situated at the foothill of Moti Dungari on a raised platform. The structure is an architectural beauty and is an esteemed landmark in Jaipur. It is said that the land for the temple was given by Jaipur's king at a token amount of 1rupee to the Birla family. Later the temple was built by the B.M. Birla Foundation, a renowned business family in India.The temple is built by Shri Rang Ramanuj Das Ji. The belief is that in 1904 Lord Vishnu appeared in Shri Rang Ramanuj Das's dream and told him that He ( the deity) is under the temple construction site and to bring him on the ground and worship.
Shri Lakshmi Narayan temple, popularly known as the Birla Temple is built of white marble and has delicate carvings. It looks breathtakingly beautiful at night when it's lit up. There are three massive domes to the temple as if indicating various pathways to the religion. Devotees have to take a set of stairs made of marble to enter into the temple. At the outside, visuals from Hindu mythology are depicted on painted glass windows. Inside of the temple are paintings of legends like Buddha and Christ, of philosophers like Confucious and Socrates and of various achievers. The idols are every bit grand and are carved amazingly. Especially the idol of Lord Ganesha is very large and looks translucent. The main deity Lord Vishnu and his consort and Goddess of wealth , Lakshmi are sculpted out of a single marble stone. The inside of the temple is beautified by carving of mythological events on the large marble pillars.
Everyday large number of devotees and tourists flock this place and enjoy the serenity and grandeur of the temple. The outside walls have grand carvings from the mythological era. There is a splendid garden and a museum in the temple premises where valuable ancestral items are kept for display by the Birla family. There is a shopping complex too in the temple area and visitors can shop from many items available.

The best time of the month to pay visit to the place is between Octobers to March. Besides Birla temple is another well-known temple of Lord Ganesh called Ganesh Madir or Moti Dungri temple. People who visit the Birla temple unfailingly visit this temple too.

There are many trains which connect Jaipur with different cities across India. The city has three main railway junctions, the main station at Jaipur, one at Gandhinagar and the third one at Durgapur.

The Pink City is also connected with major cities through a strong network of National Highways. The Rajasthan State Transport Corporation has a fleet of Deluxe and semi deluxe buses, Volvo AC and non AC buses, which make travelling more comfortable for tourists. There is also an excellent bus service between Delhi and Jaipur, with buses plying at a frequency of every half an hour. From Delhi, you can take a bus from Bikaner house located near India gate and reach the Pink City.
