Madanesvara Siva Temple

Overview

Madanesvara Siva Temple is a Hindu sanctuary committed to Lord Siva constructed around twelfth century CE. It is located on the left half of the Mahavir Lane fanning from Garage Chowk in Santarapur to Sisupalgarh. The cherished divinity is a Siva lingam inside a circular yonipitha(basement). It is a broken sanctuary, and at present, just the Pabhaga segment is accessible.

About the Temple

The sanctuary is encompassed by private structures on three sides of north, west and east and the street in the south. The sanctuary confronts east and has a square sanctum. The superstructure has broken down since long and the remodeled pabhaga with five moldings which incorporate khura, kumbha, pata, kani and basanta is at present in presence.

Falaknuma Express, Howrah Puri Passenger, Visakha Express, East Coast Express, Guwahati Express, Coromandal Express, Howrah Mail and Utkal Express are some of the major trains passes regularly through this station.

Road

Bhubaneshwar is well connected by a good road network and the national highway no.5 passes through this city. The major bus station of the city is situated at Barmunda, 8 km from the city centre, near to the Railway Station. Regular services are available from here to Berhampur, Cuttack, Konark, Puri, Paradip, Rourkela and Sambalpur and regular interstate services available between Kolkata and Puri via Bhubaneswar. The headquarters of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) is located at Bhubaneshwar. Besides this, Bhubaneswar has City Public Transport run by Bhubaneswar Puri Transport Service Limited (BPTSL) and Dream Team Sahara (DTS)
