Overview
Kalanaur, an ancient town of Gurdaspur District, is located towards the west of Gurdaspur at a separation of 25 Kilometers. Mahakaleshwar Temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and has a Shivalinga in the even frame. It is the main sanctuary of Lord Shiva everywhere throughout the nation, where the shivalinga has been set on a level plane. Since time immemorial, a major Shivratri fair is held each year in the Mahakaleshwar sanctuary on Shivratri day when an extensive number of devotees assemble here to praise the celebration of Shivratri.
