- Tell us about this temple
The Marundeesar Temple is located in Idayaru and is dedicated to God Shiva. Sage Sukhabrahmma overheard the lessons of Shiva Rahasya, which God Shiva taught to Mother Parvathi in Mount Kailash. God Shiva noticed this and cursed the Rishi to be born on Earth. When the Rishi begged for solution, God Shiva said that he would take birth to Sage Veda Vyasa, live in Tirumarudanthurai-Idayaaru, worship the Sage and leave the earth then. If over hearing brings a curse even to an enlightened soul, let us just imagine what it would mean to average human beings. Mother Goddess blesses the devotees from her shrine facing east in a standing form. God Brahmma, Sages Sukha Muni, Agasthya, Marai Gnanasambandar and Sundarar had worshipped Mother in the temple.
