Overview
Mogileswara Temple is located at Mogili Village on the Mumbai – Chennai Highway and is around 22 west of Chittoor town. This temple is popularized as “Dakshana Kailasam”. The temple was constructed by pepper merchants and it belongs to the 10th century AD. The main deity of Lord Shiva was first found by Mogilliappa who later placed it under a Mogili tree, and started worshipping it. That's why this temple was named as “Mogileswara Temple”.
About The Temple
Sri Mogileswara Swamy Temple Mogili, faces east and is enclosed by a compound wall. The temple tower of this temple was constructed with great sculpture work and it has three towers. On the northern side of the main temple, Kamakshi Devi temple is located. An amazing feature of this temple is its pushkarini. No one knows how the water flows out from the mouth of Nandi in all the seasons. Children and women consider that a bath in the holy pushkarini is highly beneficial. Mogili Temple is unique because of the fact that it is entirely in the chola style and does not contain any structural additions of the Vijayanagara period. The portrait sculptures on the pillars in the mukhamandapa are good specimens of the folk art of the period.
About The Deity
Lord Shiva is worshipped in the linga form in the sanctum sanctorum. Mother Goddess Shakti is worshipped here as Kamakshi. The temple also has murtis of Chandeswara, Dakshinamurti, Ganapati, Bhairava, Kumara, Goddess Parvati, Vishnu, Umasahita Chandrasekhara murti, Mahishasuramardini, Brahma and Surya. The murti of Veerabhadra in the temple is unique as it seen along with Daksha Prajapati with goat head.
Festivals
The Ten-day Brahmothsavam will be held during Sivarathri.
Significance
Devotees offer special prayers to Kamakshi Devi for fulfillment of their desires.

The nearest airport is Tirupati Airport and Chennai Airport. There is no railway station near to Mogili in less than 10 km. The nearest railway station is in Chittoor. Chittoor is the nearest town to Mogili. Chittoor is 31 km from Mogili. Road connectivity is there from Chittoor to Mogili.
