Muthukuzhi Amman Temple

The Muthukuzhi Amman Temple is located in Perayur and is dedicated to Muthukuzhi Amman. The Moolavar of this temple is Muthukuzhi Amman. It is important to note that this temple is 500 years old. Muthukuzhi Amman is a very powerful deity who cures her devotees suffering from prolonged illness and gives them a healthy life. There is a very interesting legend relating to this temple. 400 years ago, there was only a tree in the location where the temple currently exists. A woman who was an ardent devotee prayed to Amman to save her child suffering from small pox. Unfortunately the child died. The woman buried the child and went back with grief. At this point another devotee who was possessed by the Goddess told the mother that Amman would never disappoint her devotee. She asked the woman to UN-dig the pit and get back her child. The woman did the same and was really surprised when she found her child to be alive inside the pit. Muthukuzhi Amman alone knows the mystery behind this occurrence Since then, many people follow this practice.

Meaning -Salutations to the Goddess who resides as Shakti in all beings.
