Overview
Naganatheswar sanctuary has a place with sri Naganatheswar shiva, arranged at town "Nagena" around 20 Km from Dhenkanal. It is the most old saiva sanctuary and was built amid the area of the Keshari line. As indicated by researchers Pandit Nagendranath Mohapatras' Naganath satakam it is one of the 12 yotir lingas. In the stotras of the "Awashyotirlinga" one of the jyotirlinga is in the Daruka-Vana or Neem backwoods. The neem woods are still there in the premises. Indeed, even Harisingh Vidyadhar who possessed the Dhenkanal fragmental sanctuary for the darshan of Lord Naganath. The sloka of Dwadasha jyotirlinga says that Naganath sanctuary is located in the southern most piece of Anga Kingdom.
