- Tell us about this temple
The Navaneethakrishnan Temple is located in Velakudhun and is dedicated to Mahaganapathy. The front hall of this temple is graced by the idol of Mahaganapathy that was found during the erection of the temple. The left and right sides of the temple bear images of Sri Anjaneya and Garuda respectively. The prime deity of this temple is known as Navaneethakrishnan (Navaneetham means butter in Sanskrit). It is a known fact that milk blends with water but the butter made out of milk does not mix with milk. Likewise, all the creatures born in this world, especially the humans tend to forget their creator and get attached to worldly pleasures. They forget God and spend their lives concentrating on the materialistic desires in this world. God Navaneethakrishnan with the butter in his hand symbolizes the message that there is nothing greater in this world than God. It is also significant that the God has always forgiven those who have waged a battle against him like Kamsa, Sisubala, Duryodhana, Karna. These people met their end with the God's hand and attained salvation. He is also known as the God of love and grace Karunamurthy.
