The Pidari Chelladi Amman Temple is located in Oruvandhur and is dedicated to Pidari Chelladi Amman. The temple name is Pidari Chelladi Amman temple. The Goddess presides here as Chellandiamman. There are shrines for Malayala Karupanna swamy, Pattavan, Madurai Veeran, Sadaichi Amman, Pechi Amman and Sapthakannis (seven maidens) in the prakaram. Many thousand years ago, the soil of this region was salty. While men were digging the salt soil, the crowbar stopped with a sound and blood began to ooze out. There they found a beautiful idol of the Goddess there. People overcome by excitement, erected a temporary green tent and began worshipping. The Goddess came to be known as Pidari Chellandiamman.
